Thanks for stopping by for the new latest and greatest:
“We’ve Got Personality”
Ding ding ding!!!
It is time for another round of “We’ve Got Personality” with your host, Jade.
Today’s star is Rebel, fondly called Belle by her family members.
This Belle is no ding dong, despite what her nickname may suggest. Belle is a special needs girl, with an extreme case of anxiety.
She is my newest cousin. While she gets along with my cousins, I am uncertain as to whether she will like me.
It took much persuading by her other sisters to get her to want to bark up a conversation with me.
Thankfully, here she is- ready to share her story with the world.
Hi Belle, I can’t wait to meet you in person. In the meanwhile, this Skype session will have to do. What’s your story?
*Stares at Jade on the screen.*
Hmmm… it seems like Belle is just panting. Maybe another question will be better. You were adopted into a wonderful family. What did you think when you were able to go home with them?
*Gives Jade award winning smile*
When I went to my first check up with mom, I was shivering in my mom’s arms. As a traumatized pup, the vet said that dogs like me either become a biter or a very timid, anxiety driven dog.
I have never bitten anybody, but I am extremely anxious.
It is really scary for me to associate with my mom and dad, but I am comfortable with my sisters.
The first few weeks if someone would try to get me so that we could go outside, I would run away while pooping so that they could not get me.
They literally scared the poop out of me.
I have gotten a lot better at following my sisters when it is time to go outside.
In the past two weeks I have only run away pooping once, which my mom and dad think is a vast improvement.
Continues to stare at Jade and replies, “My family’s nice.”
Hmmm.. I can see you are more of a thinker than a talker. How do you like the food at your new house?
When it is time to eat and mom has my food I run around the house barking at her.
I know I want the food but I can’t go to her to get it just yet.
I have gotten as far as running a few circles then going to a corner table and sitting under it so that I can be picked up.
Yesterday, for the first time in the 5 months since I have been adopted, I ate a treat out of my mom’s hand.
“I like treats”.
Yum, who doesn’t like treats! Do you have any other things you would like to say?
*Thinks and wiggles a bit to snuggle into her mom’s arm more*
I have made many improvements. I have jumped up on my moms lap twice in the past two weeks for a cuddle.
My sisters taught me to go in and out of the doggy door, which I love to do whenever I can.
Yesterday when mom knocked on the window for all of us to come in from outside, I understood the signal, listened, ran up the stairs with my sisters and jumped right through the doggy door.
Well it was great speaking with you on “We’ve Got Personality” today Belle, and good luck with everything!
You have a patient, loving, and caring family who can’t wait to be there with you when you come around.
Sorry I could not give you Travel Animal Doctor fans a little more information about Belle. She seems to be quite shy.
She seems really sweet and I can’t wait to meet her in person.
Her sisters all love having her in their pack.
Until next time on,
“We’ve Got Personality”,
this is Jade, signing off.
