2015 Blog Paws Conference- Travel Animal Doctor

As a first time attendee at the annual 2015 Blog Paws Conference in Nashville, TN, I had a blast. – Travel Animal Doctor I met many bloggers in person that I have been communicating with online. Additionally, the 2015 Blog Paws Conference gave me the opportunity to form many new relationships with fellow bloggers and brands. I will be going more in depth about the brands and people I have met in the upcoming weeks. Today I want to summarize and highlight some of the cool brand booths at the 2015 Blog Paws Conference. 1. PetTutor The PetTutor feeding bowl appears to be a great training tool for pets. It is a remote controlled pet-food dish that releases food on command. PetTutor is also working on bluetooth technology that would allow feeding your animal from any blue-tooth enabled location.  2. Bissel The Pawsitively Clean Bissel Carpet Cleaning Machine appears to do a great job cleaning up after your pet. Many PetSmart stores rent the carpet cleaning machine out to pet families. Their website has “How To” instructions to show you how you can best clean up after your pet with the use of their deep cleaning machine.  3. DogIDs DogIDs offers collars, tags, leashes, bowls, beds, along with a vast array of other products for your dog. If you are looking for a personalized bed and bowl for your dog’s upcoming birthday, many products can be found personalized at DogIDs. They also have a “Dog Lover Gifts” section for anyone who wants to purchase a gift for the dog lover in your family. 4. California Pet Acupuncture & Wellness (CPAW), Inc I had the privilege...

The waterfall will summon you, and in two seconds the rest of the world will disappear. Relax Swim through a pristine waterfall to a secluded heated pool that appears on the other side. JGI: Meeting Dr. Jane Goodall -travelanimaldr.com

This Earth Day, I want to recognize Dr. Jane Goodall and the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI) for, “Sowing the Seeds of Hope”. -travelanimaldr.com The standing ovation for this soft-spoken, yet illustrious woman made every celebration for the triumphant winner of each season of Hell’s Kitchen pale in comparison. Were Dr. Jane Goodall’s admirers clapping for her substantial scientific advancements; her dedication to establishing environmental awareness around the globe; her devoted education of their children through her “Roots & Shoots” program; her political achievements such as being named a U.N. ‘Messenger of Peace” twice by the United Nations; or for a multitude of these reasons? Regardless of the rationale behind our appreciation, Dr. Jane deserves every moment of our rejoice. Story Telling Dr. Goodall’s natural ability for story telling kept me captivated from the moment that she began speaking. Her reminiscent voice launched my imagination in a way that, in one-minute I was in the lecture hall, and the next, I was standing on a peak in Gombe National Park, Tanzania. A feeling of devastation overcame me, as I overlooked the once green, evergreen forest. In front of me now were just desolate mountains, free of trees or greenery due to deforestation. I was relieved when later in the lecture; Dr. Goodall brought me back to Gombe. This time my feelings of helplessness disappeared as once again, in my imagination I saw an enchanting evergreen forest restored greener, and healthier than ever. I listened as Dr. Jane explained the integral part she played in restoring her home to its natural state. Dr. Jane Goodall had created a station in Gombe where...
Travel Animal Doctor: National Cherry Blossom Festival

Travel Animal Doctor: National Cherry Blossom Festival

This past weekend was the end of the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C.. – Travel Animal Doctor Breathtaking Views The majestic view of the Jefferson Memorial and Washington Monument, was intensified one thousand times over by the allure of the pink and white petals and aroma of sweet cherry blossoms in full bloom around the Tidal Basin. Prepare for Crowds Monday the petals started blowing off of the trees in a whirlwind blizzard of delicate colors and sprinkled the ground like a carpet of petals across the Tidal Basin walkway. As the sun set, crowds of people were photographing the spectacular scenery before them. It seemed like every family from the Washington D.C. surrounding areas had the same idea to catch a lasting glimpse of the natural beauty in the Capital. As the crowd shuffled along, it was hard to stop for fear that the people behind would be caught in a foot traffic jam. Glamorous Beauty Under the cherry blossom trees the petal carpet is so dense that all you see is white and pink. A reminder to all responsible pet owners in the area, that when seeing this beautiful petal carpet, do not forget about the potential toxic threat cherry trees are to your cats, dogs and horses. Even though we enjoyed the sights, smells, and beautiful weather we needed to keep a watchful eye on Jade because being the curious canine that she is, her sniffer was going a million miles a minute. On a normal hike or walk through the park this would not be a big deal.   Inedible to Pets But with the...

Vet Version of A Cheap Pet- Friendly Vacation: Travel Animal Doctor

As a spin off of the list made by my mother, Penny Claudio, today I wanted to share with you my hints on a safe and cheap pet-friendly vacation.  -Travel Animal Doctor If you missed her article, click here for some practical tips on traveling to see family so that you are welcome anytime. As a veterinarian, the first thing I think of when I travel with pets is the possibility of spreading disease to the other pets or even family members in the household, and pet anxiety. The following list will be things to remember when traveling with your pet to visit relatives from my point of view. 6 Reminders when Taking Pets to the In-Laws Remember your pet's dental care. This is just an important reminder that your pet’s oral hygiene is important. When taking your pet to see family they may love seeing her, but if her breath stinks they will not want to get close. If you can hardly remember to pack your own toothbrush and toothpaste at least remember those dental chews. Your pet is going to feel a little out of her realm so dental treats will be that special treat you use to get her into her kennel at night, and remind her that you are with her. At the same time these chews help control that build up of tartar on your pet’s teeth, and keeps the bad breath caused by the bacteria in her teeth at a minimum. If you are interested in the proper dental care for your pet, read more here. Is she being loud? In unfamiliar territory pets may get anxious,...
