5 Reasons to Get the Kitty Litter Genie

5 Reasons to Get the Kitty Litter Genie

The Litter Genie cat litter disposal system has been a godsend in our household. I am so head over heels for the product, I feel it needs to be shared with the world. If you are a cat enthusiast, you are probably very used to the scent of kitty litter and the chore of cleaning the litter box.  With Poseidon watching as I empty both his litter boxes, I can’t help but to have that humbling feeling come over me. There is just something about cleaning up after your pets that makes you realize that your health is just as important as your pet’s health. If you were to leave that litter box unaccounted for, for long periods of time, you know that you would be finding a surprise somewhere else in the household. Furthermore, if those litter boxes got too dirty, it would affect your health and wellbeing as well. That stink has a way of permeating through a room. If you are living in an apartment complex in Washington D.C. area, then you could potentially smell it throughout the household. So how do you get that smell under control? Here is why Litter Genie has worked so well for our family. 1. Ease of Use To use the Litter Genie, one only has to pop the lid open and put the dirty litter in. Then open up the seal to send it down to the deeper compartment, where it can sit until it is full. 2. Sealed Compartmentalization In opening the lid, one may think a strong smell would be present. But this small can has an...
Poseidon Attacks at Travel Animal Doctor

Poseidon Attacks at Travel Animal Doctor

The attack of Poseidon continues here at Travel Animal Doctor. Yesterday we left off with Poseidon the cat as still as a stone under the tablecloth that entangled him.  Jade, the lab mix became increasingly interested in the statue with eyes that were fixated on her tail. Poseidon’s plan was thwarted, for the tablecloth seemed to be a little less invisible than what he primarily contrived. Without warning, Poseidon switched up his plot, and jumped out of his invisible cloak at the coffee table.  Attacking a leg, Poseidon kicked and kicked until it seemed that the table called to him, “uncle, uncle, uncle!” As sudden as the attack began, he stopped with a look of boredom in his eyes.  He then turned his attention to the tablecloth that was once cloaking him in what he had originally thought was invisibility. It was obviously the tablecloth’s fault that things did not go as planned. Jade watched in amusement as Poseidon’s pet parents yelled at him to stop biting and clawing the cloth. With a meow of discontent, Poseidon rolled over the table cloth, concocting his next move. As Poseidon lay overtop of the tablecloth his pet parents groaned in despair.  That tablecloth would indeed need washed as soon as this game was over. Too light-hearted to steal the cloth from him now, they watched in entertainment to see what he would do next. Scared of Poseidon, Jade ran for the coach where she could be protected by her pet mother.  Her pet father started poking her and telling her to go play. Jade was pretty stubborn, so she sat on her pet...

To: Poseidon’s Fans at Travel Animal Doctor

Hi everybody, this is Poseidon the cat, introducing myself to all the fans here at Travel Animal Doctor. My newly adopted pet parents have been enjoying my rambunctious ways for the past few weeks. My new sister Jade has been having fun running around with me.  I enjoy stirring up the home with antics at every turn. Yesterday I hid from Jade under the table cloth of the family coffee table. A sudden rush of energy started in my butt. I started wiggling it to try to keep my composure, but the rush was just too strong. I fixated my stealth-like stare on the target. Suddenly the rush of energy within me charged into my legs and without hesitation I bolted. My powerful pounce at Jade took the tablecloth with me. Thirty seconds later I was ensnared! In a heroic attempt to save the contents that were on the table, my trusty sidekick, the ground, caught the coasters, the glasses, the remote control and the wii controller. On impact, the objects cried in terror. A symphony of crashes resounded throughout the living room. Trying to break free, I wriggled and squirmed. I bit and clawed at the table cloth with all my might while my adoptive pet parents sat staring at each other in disbelief.  The evil table cloth monster had me in its grips and would not let me go. While at first I felt defeated, I decided this was kind of fun. Since the tablecloth was sheer I could still stalk my sister, Jade. I calmed myself and kept my eyes on the prize, Jade’s tail. I quieted myself and scrunched...

Traveling with Your Dogs- Travel Animal Doctor

If you are planning to travel with your dogs, there are some things you should keep in mind. Are you planning a long road trip with your dogs? After years of traveling with dogs, I have learned there are some essential things to bring along. Follow along for 13 quick veterinary tips for traveling with your dog: 1. Buckle Up Safety first! Remember to put on their seat belts before you start your drive. When dogs get excited they may try to get in the front seat with you or impede your driving. 2. Car Seat Covers Are you concerned about getting fur all over your clothes? Do you pick up friends in your car and get embarrassed with the fur they get on their clothes from your car? Avoid getting hair all over the backseat by purchasing a car seat cover for your car. 3. Portable Water There are a number of bowls that you can keep in your car so that when you are on the move, your car can stay hydrated. I have seen a number of water bowls made out of material that can easily fit in a a car seat pocket. We use a water bottle with a lid that turns into a bowl from which Jade can drink. We also keep a collapsible bowl in a car seat back pocket. 4. Avoid Toxins Prevent unintentional pet poisoning. Make sure gum, fast food, and caffeinated drinks are not in the same vicinity as your canine friends. 5. Air Conditioning Keep your pets cool. You can avoid overheating by ensuring plentiful airflow to your puppy dogs. 7. Bathroom...

Kitty – Proofing Your House for a New Cat with Lids – Travel Animal Doctor

Kitty – proofing the home for a newly adopted cat can sometimes be a challenge. – Travel Animal Doctor The adventure continues with our family and our new cat, Poseidon. Our domestic short-haired cat, Poseidon, was recently adopted by our family from the Homeward Trails Animal Rescue. As soon as we got him we knew that our lives had changed forever. Soon after we brought Poseidon home, we realized he was an extremely curious cat. We shut doors to closets and rooms so he would not be over- stimulated, and so that he could get used to one room at a time. Even with the doors shut he has had a way of getting into everything that he can. The following are a few things our family has done in order to kitty – proof our house. 1. Lids to Your Yarn While we were already warned that Poseidon loves toilet paper, we did not think to cover our yarn. In a flash he found the basket of yarn and went crazy with the array of colorful strands that he could unroll. 2. Lid to the Litter Box We ordered a self- cleaning litter box before we took Poseidon home. He ended up coming home with us before it got here so we got the second litter box set up for him but did not bother to get a lid since the expensive one was on the way. We also heard he loved to climb so we went to Home Depot to buy shelves to build on one of our walls. While we were gone Poseidon decided to make a disaster...
