As pasta is cooking, melt vegan shortening in another pot, mixing it with flour until browned (1-2 minutes). Add milk, salt and pepper. Stir in cheese until melted. When pasta is almost done but firm, add into pot with cheese sauce and mix. Add cheddar cheese across the top and bake casserole in a 2 qt dish 40-45 minutes until browned and bubbly.
